First Aid learning for Young People

Use with the whole class but also can practice on their own  by replaying the videos and taking the quiz

As an extra option you can set up accounts for each student to monitor their progress with quizes

 Everyday first aid from the Red Cross has some good videos - I have used these before.

Accident Book

NLN Materials hosts an excellent online interactive acitivty (click on the 30) which is part of a resource: Accident and Incident Reporting (understanding  the accident book an how to use it) .It would be a useful resource for teaching Health and Safety at Work, Entry 3.

Young Workers Health and Safety resources

Young Workers is a website from ROSPA which teaches young people about health and safety in the workplace .There are some excellent case studies  as  well as a safety sign /hazard quiz.
The resource is suitable for Entry 3 level /1 students.

It's Health and Safety for brains

'It's Health and Safety for brains' is a blog thread from Sparky Teacher with a free set of Motivational posters. 

It uses the health and safety signs shape, colour and meaning to deliver short meaningful messages such as 'Respect is a two way thing' and 'Celebrate your achievements'

Safet signs resource

The Health and Safety Sign Association has produced some educational resources for understanding safety signs. The Key stage 1 resources would fit in well with Entry 1 Health and Safety for students with a learning difficulty.The resources include word searches based around each safety sign, printouts of the health and safety sign shapes and worksheets to help learn the meaning of the signs.
The PowerPoint in the vocational section introduces safety signs .It is a little bit wordy but could be adapted.

There is a story board series which looks at health safety and well being in the workplace.


Stacking Safety explores lifting heavy boxes. This activity is an online activity but by clicking on the resource tab it can be downloaded as PowerPoint.

There is a health and safety signs worksheet available at TES ( register to download).Suitable for entry level students, particularly those taking a work skills based health and safety unit.
